Vietnamese plant ships 4 tonnes sheep wool yarn to Japan

Vietnam’s Da Lat Worsted Spinning Limited Company based in the Lam Dong province recently exported the first batch of 4 tonnes of sheep wool yarn to Japan. The plant, whose construction began in June last year, is expected to ship 300 tonnes of yarn this year. It is a joint venture between Germany’s Südwolle Group and Lien Phuong Textiles Industry Company.

With a total investment of $50 million, the plant has an annual designed capacity of about 4,000 tonnes of yarn and is expected to earn $100-120 million every year, according to a Vietnamese newspaper report.

Up to 90 per cent of the finished wool yarn from the factory will be shipped abroad.

The factory will also be open to visitors who can watch the process of producing yarn from natural wool.
