Corteva Agriscience launched its new Enversa herbicide at the 2024 Commodity Classic in Houston, Texas, for the 2025 growing season.
After receiving EPA approval in December 2023, Corteva Agriscience launched its new Enversa herbicide on Wednesday at the 2024 Commodity Classic in Houston, Texas. Corteva expects the product will be ready for use on a number of crops for the 2025 growing season, pending state registrations.
What crops will Enversa work on?
Corteva anticipates Enversa will be available for use on soybeans, cotton, corn, sorghum, peanuts, and sugar beets. While exhibiting at the 2024 Commodity Classic, Corteva emphasized the value of the herbicide for soybean and cotton growers.
What weeds will Enversa target?
Enversa was formulated to target 25 of the toughest broadleaf and grass weeds, including Palmer amaranth and water hemp. Its extended weed control can last up to four weeks, Corteva claims.
How does Enversa work?
“Enversa is a residual herbicide that will handle some of the toughest, hard-to-control broadleaf and grass weeds that farmers face today,” said Shawna Hubbard, Strategic Marketing Manager, Corteva Agriscience. “This will be the first soybean and cotton herbicide in Corteva’s portfolio to feature a proprietary encapsulated acetochlor component to help protect plants from emerging weeds.”
Enversa will be the first herbicide from the agriscience company to feature a proprietary encapsulated acetochlor (Group 15), intended to complement tank-mix partners by creating a residual barrier around the soybean or cotton plant and moving from leaf surface into the soil.
A half inch of rain is needed for activation.
When and how can Enversa be applied?
To help farmers cope with challenging weather conditions, Enversa has a wide application window.
Soybean application
Enversa can be applied as a preplant herbicide up to R2 on soybean crops.
The new herbicide offers easy handling and tank-mix compatibility, particularly with Enlist One herbicide for Enlist E3 soybeans. Enversa is designed to fit into a herbicide program approach with the company’s other soybean herbicide products, Sonic and Trivence.
Corn application
Enversa can be applied as a preplant herbicide and on corn crops up to 30 inches tall.
Cotton application
Enversa can be applied as a preplant herbicide up to first bloom in cotton.
Sorghum application
Enversa can be applied as a preplant herbicide and on sorghum crops up to 11 inches tall.
