- A US committee on textile agreements has added certain nylon dobby weave fabrics not timely available in commercial quantities in the member nations of the Dominican Republic-Central America-US FTA to the list in Annexure 3.25 of the agreement in unrestricted quantities.
- Sourcing of the fabrics is no more a problem for manufacturers in the member nations.
The US Committee for the Implementation of Textile Agreements (CITA) recently decided that as certain nylon dobby weave fabrics are not timely available in commercial quantities in the countries signatory to the Dominican Republic-Central America-United States Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA-DR), the product is added to the list in Annexure 3.25 of the agreement in unrestricted quantities.
The step will allow duty-free imports of apparel made in CAFTA-DR countries with this fabric regardless of where it is sourced.
This Annexure 3.25 list is modified from time to time. CITA is an interagency group chaired by the department of commerce and is responsible for matters affecting textile trade policy and for supervising the implementation of all textile trade agreements.
