A new recycled, biodegradable polyester, designed for commercial interiors, is being launched by Duvaltex to address the issue of polyester fabric waste.
Clean Impact Textiles, while meant to be long-wearing commercial fabrics, can also biodegrade in landfills and wastewater conditions at a rate similar to natural fibers using a bio-catalyst added during the yarn extrusion process enabling anaerobic digestion.
The new textiles are also designed and manufactured for recyclability, allowing future use as raw materials for polyester fabrics.
“Based on the alarming statistics regarding the amount of textile waste that ends up in landfills, these innovative fabrics represent eco-efficiency by design at its best, and a crucial step forward in reducing the negative impact of a linear economy,” said Alain Duval, CEO of Duvaltex.
Duvaltex’s Clean Impact Textiles meet or exceed the ACT performance guidelines for heavy-duty upholstery and the patterns were designed for specification across a wide range of seating applications. Being introduced at Neocon in Chicago June 10 to12, the Clean Impact Textiles line includes five coordinating patterns in a range of colors, including blues, greens, reds, corals and coordinating light and dark neutrals.
