Punishing rain spell expected in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh from today

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, JULY 13:

Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and South Rajasthan are bracing for widespread rainfall, while it would be fairly widespread over Madhya Maharashtra and Konkan over the next four days.

The India Met Department (IMD) released this outlook in the context of the presence of a well-marked low-pressure area over South-East Uttar Pradesh and adjoining North-east Madhya Pradesh.

DEPRESSION LIKELY

This hyper active rain-producing weather system is expected to intensify further into a depression over the next two days and move in a westerly direction towards West Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat.

The IMD has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall over East and West Madhya Pradesh for today and tomorrow, before the weather starts to relent.

Gujarat is also under threat of a punishing wet spell from today, ranging from heavy to very heavy rainfall to isolated extremely heavy rainfall tomorrow and the day after.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall has also been forecast for Saurashtra and Kutch tomorrow, which would become isolated, extremely heavy rain the day after, the IMD said.
