US adds additional textile companies from China to UFLPA entity list

In an effort to eradicate forced labour against Uyghurs in the Xinjiang region, the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has added 78 businesses to the Uyghur Forced Labour Prevention Act (UFLPA) Entity List, including textile companies from the People’s Republic of China (PRC).

“By expanding the Entity List, we help American companies better evaluate their supply chains and make sure they don’t directly or indirectly benefit from the use of forced labour,” stated Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro N. Mayorkas.

“We are uncompromising in removing forced labour from US supply chains,” stated Robert Silvers, the Under Secretary for Policy and chair of the Forced Labour Enforcement Task Force. “We are seeing results from our enforcement operations. Increasing this momentum and enhancing accountability throughout international supply chains are priorities for our administration.”

Since its creation in December 2021, the DHS has now added 78 entities to the UFLPA entry list. Agriculture, chemicals, textiles, plastics, batteries, home appliances and electronics are among the industries included on the list.
